Classwork Biker Magazine Cover
For this magazine cover we had so create a clipping mask of the biker so that the bikers head is in front of the magazines title heading. This is so that we have another process we can use on our creative review subculture covers.
To begin with we began by using the pen tool to trace around the biker himself from the image provided so that the background will not be visible in the cover. Using the pen tool keeping to the inside of the biker so that there aren’t any dark outlines around the biker when he is placed into the cover with the background.
When using the pen tool and we got to the earring we could either cut around the earring and then create another clipping mask to get the inside of the earring to make sure the inside of the earring is the same colour as the background.
After placing the biker and manipulating the pictures positioning we then create a new layer and place that behind the biker and alter the colour to a dark grey. Once that is completed create a heading for the magazine cover, create another new layer for the text. I used the Rockwell bold typeface to create the subculture heading and coloured it orange to contrast the grey, black and white of the biker. Using the guidelines I positioned the word ‘magazine’ in white underneath the name of the magazine, after that I created the article name ‘The Hogfather’ with a small caption in white to match the biker’s emblem on his jumper. All the text is in the typeface Rockwell because of it’s characteristics.
