Apple Iphone and Ipod Evolution
Apple was established in 1976 and began with the building of the infamous Apple Macintosh and other desktop and portable computers but it wasn’t until 2001, Apple began to introduce the iPod digital music player changing listening to music throughout the world. Updated models have since been introduced with larger memory, better batteries and displays. The iPod brand is now the market leader in portable music players with more than 350 million units shipped as of September 2012. Apple has partnered with Nike to offer the Nike+ iPod Sports Kit, enabling runners to synchronize and monitor their runs with iTunes and the Nike+ website.
In 2007 the firth iPod touch was introduced with wi-fi capabilities as well as a multi-touch interface. The design of these iPod was to be used on the go to play games, listen to music and access the internet via wi-fi. These iPods were the first to feature the app store and iTunes on them so that people could download music and apps without having to connect to a computer. Eventually Apple started to add other features such ar cameras, retina displays and improving the IOS software creating more functions for the iPod. The iPhone was introduced in 2007 and became one of the most sought after piece of technology with the iPhone 4 being described as “biggest leap we’ve taken” since the original iPhone. The popularity of the iPhone was because consumers could do all they did with their mp3 or iPods and use it as a phone as well which was more convenient than carrying two devices at the time.
Since the massive success of the iPod and iPhone Apple has also introduced the iPad, Apple TV and various versions of software while producing improved versions of the macintosh, iPhone and iPod which enhanced features and more customisable options.
